Abdextra™
KEYMIX® ABDEXTRA™ a concentrated broad spectrum vitamin supplement, easily added and dissolved in drinking water. Vitamins are essential in diets of all animals and birds. Intensively-raised livestock are by definition entirely hand fed and dependent on stored and processed feed. Therefore, in these industries every attempt is made to ensure an adequate intake of vitamins for optimum health and productivity. The more obvious livestock species which are subject to intensivism are poultry, pigs and cattle, however, the scope extends nowadays to many more animal industries. Production stress is a recognised entity in intensive farming.
Boosting vitamin intake with short term administration of well-balanced vitamin preparations is a common and useful practice in these
industries for several reasons. The effects of stress can be reduced, and productivity is enhanced using short term strategic vitamin
treatment. Stress is an intrinsic component of intensivism. Certain practices and life-cycle periods in all livestock are clearly associated
with stress. For example: handling, vaccination, debeaking, weaning, regrouping, transport and breeding. Introduction to new feed
regimes is also a stressor. The demand for rapid growth and efficient feed utilisation, the hallmark of modern intensive livestock
enterprises, means that the growth or production phase entails a degree of inherent stress.
ABDEXTRA™ should be administered to groups or individual animals or birds, in anticipation of, and during, periods of stress for
periods of 5-10 days. It is not usually necessary to use ABDEXTRA™ continuously, unless feed quality is poor, or the vitamin
content or potency cannot be guaranteed.
